Proxy is green and nodes exist; most sites work but Google / YouTube / ChatGPT spin—that’s “some sites,” not “nothing uses the proxy.”
Four usual causes: rules send the domain DIRECT; DNS pollution; fake-ip misconfigured; node region/blocking. Bisect whole vs partial, then node, rules, DNS—cache/Tun last.
Map the symptom to a layer
| Pattern | Likely cause | First check |
|---|---|---|
| Everything looks unproxied | System proxy off / wrong mode | Check the system proxy page |
| One site DIRECT, rest fine | Rule sends it DIRECT | Read connection hits on the routing page |
| Name fails, IP works | DNS pollution / fake-ip | Check the DNS page |
| AI tools spin, region-bound | Node region / blocking | Swap a same-region node |
Whole network vs a few sites
Everything looks unproxied → system proxy. A few sites: try another same-region node; still bad → read connection hits (routing). IP works, name fails → DNS. IPv6-first timeouts: disable IPv6 as a test. Wrong system clock breaks HTTPS—fix time first.
Rules, DNS, region
Connections show DIRECT: patch rules/mode, don’t only swap nodes. ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini need region + long connections—ChatGPT, Gemini, Tun & AI. All-red latency → latency.
Cache, extensions, security suites
Don’t clear caches first. Compare another browser/private window; disable extensions only when they differ. HTTPS inspection can break TLS—exclude temporarily. Still stubborn: Tun (Tun) and logs.
Two-minute checklist
- Any connection records?
- PROXY or DIRECT?
- Does a node swap fix it immediately?
- Change DNS/rules/Tun one layer at a time.
