macOS may say Clash Verge is "damaged" or from an unidentified developer. The file is rarely corrupt—Gatekeeper/quarantine is blocking an unnotarized or browser-downloaded app. Confirm Apple Silicon vs Intel, then allow from simple to thorough.
Builds: download center; safety: safe or virus; OS overview: install by OS.
Three allow steps
- Right-click → Open.
- Privacy & Security → allow the blocked app.
- Still "damaged": clear quarantine with
xattronly on a trusted build—skip mystery "fixed" DMGs.
The third step removes the quarantine flag macOS stamps on downloaded files:
# only on a build you trust
xattr -cr "/Applications/Clash Verge Rev.app"
Separate from Tun prompts
System extension prompts for Tun are another gate (Tun, start failed, Tun & AI). The "damaged" dialog is Gatekeeper; a network-extension prompt is a different approval flow.
Opens but no nodes
Subscription setup (import, no nodes), not Gatekeeper.
Wrong architecture
Intel vs Apple silicon packages aren’t interchangeable. Re-download if needed; getting started.
Verify it is really Gatekeeper
| Dialog | What it means | Action |
|---|---|---|
| "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified" | Gatekeeper block | Right-click → Open, or allow in Privacy & Security |
| "is damaged and can’t be opened" | Quarantine flag / incomplete download | Re-download, then xattr -cr |
| App opens then immediately quits | Not Gatekeeper | Check core/logs, not this guide |
