Migration

New PC or Fresh OS? Move Your Whole Clash Verge Setup Across

New PC or reinstall: subscriptions, Merge overrides, and app prefs can vanish. Migrate by copying the profiles directory, re-importing URLs + Merge, or syncing only subscription links.

Verify before Tun/AI (Tun & AI). Builds: download center.

Path help: config location.

What actually lives in the profiles directory

Before copying, know what you are moving. The profiles directory (location varies by OS—see config location) typically holds: the subscription cache and per-profile YAML, any Merge/Extended override you wrote, the data directory with proxies and selected node, and app preferences such as mixed port, autostart, and theme. Subscriptions are cached there, but they still point at a remote URL—so a copy restores the snapshot, yet the next refresh pulls fresh from the provider. Treat the URL as the source of truth and the cache as convenience.

What to move

  • Subscription URLs and node lists.
  • Merge/override rules.
  • Client prefs (ports, autostart, theme).

Three methods

Copy profiles: quit the app, copy the config directory, start on the new machine.

Re-import + Merge: when you mainly remember the URL.

URL only: fine for multi-device daily use; custom rules need a separate copy.

Method trade-offs

Method Preserves When to use
Copy profiles dir Everything: subs, Merge, prefs, selected node Full move to a new machine, same OS
Re-import + Merge Subs + your custom rules You remember the URL but lost the folder
URL only Subscription nodes Daily multi-device use; rules handled separately

Step-by-step: copy the profiles directory

  1. Quit Clash Verge Rev completely on the old machine; end any leftover process so files are not locked.
  2. Open the profiles directory (config location).
  3. Copy the whole directory to removable media or a sync folder.
  4. On the new machine, install the same major version from the download center.
  5. Quit the new install, paste the copied directory over its fresh profiles location.
  6. Launch; confirm the node list and Merge rules appear before touching anything else.

Four checks

  1. Nodes > 0 (setup, no nodes).
  2. Merge hits look right (routing, DIRECT).
  3. Mixed port matches system proxy (ports).
  4. Tun only if needed.

Stop

Don't copy while the old instance is running. Same major version helps. Uninstall backup note: cleanup. If the copied client shows a different path after launch, you likely installed a different build edition—re-import the subscription rather than debugging a phantom profile.

Migrating anyway? Update while you are at it

A fresh machine is the perfect time to install the latest build — matching versions makes migration cleanest. Installers are in the download center.
